"Called to Care, reaching out in love to our neighbors"

    FOR NEIGHBORS IN NEED:
Food Pantry: For over twenty years we have provided a place where those in need of a few days' food could get it.  Today, the pantry is part of a county-wide system (run by the Broome County Council of Churches).  You must be referred, call 2-1-1 or 1-800-901-2180.
FREE Clothing Bank is available to the community.  We focus on children's and young adult clothing.  Call the church for information.
Community Help Fund:  Maine Federated Church has a special fund to help with emergency expenses like eviction, electric shut-off, gas vouchers, and prescriptions.  The amount of money is limited , and is normally available 24-48 hours after the request is received.  To apply for funds, call our church office.
Food Bank of the Southern Tier (Elmira)-Mobile Food Pantry:  Every other month  you will find the mobile food pantry at our church parking lot passing out free food.  Our church members, other friends, and Most Holy Rosary Church members serve as volunteers to those who need assistance.  Call the church for information.
The next Free Food Distribution is October 9th.   Note:  The food truck arrives about 9:30am.

     WE WELCOME EVERYONE:
Maine Federated Church is committed to making its historic facilities available, as often as possible, to community service organizations.  In addition to sponsoring the Wide Horizons Nursery School, we also house the Maine Community Band, the Office for the Aging's annual flu shots, and the Library Bookmobile monthly stop in Maine.  We sponsor Cub Scout Pack 212 and provide free meeting space for other scouting or children related groups.

     FOR SENIOR CITIZENS:
Maine Federated Church has a special place in its heart and its life for senior citizens.  Our sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, and many other meeting and classroom facilities are handicapped-accessible.  We also have hearing assistance devices and large-print materials.  Audio cassettes of our worship services are available if you are homebound.
Senior Luncheon:  On the last Wednesday of every month we offer a nutritious luncheon and interesting program for just $1.  Call the church office for weather cancellations.

    OUTREACH BEYOND MAINE:
Jesus taught us that our "neighbor" is whoever we know who needs help, whether they live next door or on the other side of the world.  Here are a few ways we help:
Crafters for Christ:  Church members and friends knit/crochet lap robes for area nursing home residents and blankets, hats and booties for babies in Wilson Medical Center's neonatal intensive care unit.
Special Donations:  Through gifts of almost $12,000 each year to the United Methodist Church's and United Church of Christ's state, national, and international ministries we bring the good news of God's love.  We are proud supporters of Broome & Tioga County's Habitat for Humanity,  New Hope Orphanage in Kenya, and Haiti Disaster Relief.  We also support the Family Counseling Ministry of the Susquehanna Association (United Church of Christ) and the Broome County Council of Churches.
